Personal advisory

Some problems are better worked through together.

Sometimes you know exactly what to do next. Sometimes you need a different perspective. And sometimes the issue crosses enough parts of the business that there isn't a neat answer sitting in one department.

That's where I can help.

Chris Hogan, founder of ConsultiQ

Operator first. Consultant second.

I've spent more than 25 years working across technology, business operations, leadership and management.

I've built businesses. Led teams. Made investments. Implemented systems. Managed change. Worked through growth. Worked through difficult decisions.

And learned that the textbook version of business and the real version are rarely quite the same.

ConsultiQ is built around that reality.

What we might work on

  • A business that has outgrown the way it currently operates.
  • A technology decision that has become a business decision.
  • Poor visibility of performance or cash.
  • Too much dependence on the owner or a handful of people.
  • A strategy that exists but isn't turning into action.
  • Preparing to scale, restructure or eventually exit.
  • A problem that doesn't fit neatly into one box.

Start with the problem.

I don't need you to know which consulting service you need. Tell me what's happening.

We'll work out whether I can genuinely add value.

If somebody else is better suited to the problem, I'd rather say so.

Follow-through

Keep the important things from disappearing under the busy ones.

Part of my role is to help keep the things we've agreed matter from disappearing under the next busy week. We'll come back to them regularly and look at what actually happened.

  • What moved?
  • What got stuck?
  • What changed?
  • Does the priority still make sense?
  • What do we do next?

There's no value in pretending everything went to plan when it didn't. The value is in understanding why, adjusting where needed and keeping the business moving.

If it turns out somebody else is better suited to a piece of it, I'd rather say so early.
